Background

Uganda has a very young population with 77% of its population being under 30 years of age.

There are 7,310,386 persons between the ages of 15–24 years of age living in Uganda.

Uganda, like many sub-Saharan African countries, faces major challenges in

providing quality and accessible basic education to children and adolescents.

Many children do not complete their schooling nor have the skills needed to do well in life.

Early marriage, teenage pregnancy, abuse at schools and school fees keep many teens,

especially girls, out of schools.

Most children in Uganda have faced some form of violence – physical, sexual, emotional or domestic. More than 8 million children, 51 per cent of the child population, are believed to be vulnerable.

Many young people leave their homes due to abuse and end up on the streets like some of our athletes.

We started helping the Ugandan athletes in 2012, by then we only distributed shoes and equipment to the needed and scholarships to those who had presented best results during the season.  Eventually we decided to start a charity club in the Ugandan Athletics federation. This would help us to follow up on the help we provide and thus be able to help more a more long-term and sustainable way.

We believe that given the chance these youth can embrace who they are,can define their future, realise their full potential and use athletics to give themselves a brighter future

WHAT WE DO

We target young boys and girls between the ages 15-20 years old with talent in athletics. We have two specializations for young people with an academic background or without an academic background.

We provide them with the opportunity to focus on success instead of focusing on unnecessary financial hurdles. We support their training, transportation, coaching, nutrition, fees, food, accomodation and basic living expenses. We have camp in Kampala for sprinters and field event athletes and also a cam i Kapchorwa, 2600 meters above sealevel for the long-distance athletes. The young talented athletes have the opportunity to achieve their full potential and use the track and field to give themselves a brighter future either by getting a sports scholarship and studying at a university or becoming a world class athlete.

OUR VISION

Helping talented youth get athletic scholarships to be able to pursue academic careers through our existing collaborations with academic institutions in Uganda and USA. Also to give the athletes the necessary support  so that they get a chance to practice sports, reach their full potential and to get the opportunity to realize their dreams. In addition to the obvious health benefits that a more active lifestyle will bring, the youths doing sports will build self-esteem and learn valuable life skills, such as teamwork, sportsmanship and dealing with adversity. These are life skills that they will have for the rest of their lives even if they don't reach the world class level.
